Balloons Over Bend a BendBroadband tradition

Videos of the Balloons Over Bend event show why it’s one of Bend’s most popular family events of the summer. Brightly-colored hot air balloons inflate in the middle of a crowd and ascent into the sky over beautiful landscapes. While it’s wonderful to watch on video, it’s awe-inspiring to see in person.

BendBroadband will sponsor the Balloons Over Bend event, which runs from July 28 to 30. This stunning event is all about hot air balloons, family fun, and giving back.

Early morning launches will take off from RE Jewell Elementary School the entire weekend and night launches of hot air balloons illuminated by ignited propane will occur on Friday and Saturday. The night launches will happen on Friday, July 28 around dusk at Riverbend Park and Saturday, July 29 at Sunriver Resort.

Families can watch all of the launches up-close and meet the pilots who operate the balloons.

Also included in the event is the Balloons Over Bend Children’s Festival on Saturday, July 29. The event raises funds for Saving Grace, which provides resources for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault, educates on how to prevent abuse, and promotes prevention, intervention, and support. The event takes place at the Deschutes Historical Museum, with activities such as bouncy houses, bike rodeo, shootout marble tournament, crafts, and education.

The Balloons Over Bend Children’s Festival also includes the Balloon Blast Kids Race. Part of the Kids Rock the Races Series, participants ages 3 to 10 will receive a race bib and finisher ribbon and will be entered to win prizes. Race distances range from 500 yards to 1.5 kilometers.

All balloon flights are weather permitting.
