Jillian Cole-Jobert, Programming Product Manager, is our guest blogger today. In this article, she reveals the 10 most popular cable channels for Central Oregon working professionals and suggests popular TV programming to help you break the ice at your next networking event.
In business and in life, connection with others is so important. With today’s online meetings and email avalanches, having an in-person conversation can be a monumental effort. And, if the conversation is all business, you might be missing an opportunity to build a real partnership with your co-worker.
Television shows based on common interest give us insight into others’ personalities, which can lead to partnership and trust… which can come in handy when projects get tough. Rounding out those business conversations with some good, ole fashioned water cooler talk can build teams and improve culture. And TV shows are a wonderful conversation starter for sales calls, or to strike up a conversation with a new customer while they are waiting. So, I’m here to give you something to talk about!
According to Zolo Media’s Griffin Media Research, 80% of professionals in Central Oregon subscribe to a multi-video service provider. 76% of their viewing is between 6pm and 11pm. And, 19% of them are watching at least 2 hours per day during the work week. What are they watching?
Here are the top 10 cable networks (in order) that professionals watch in Central Oregon:
- ESPN
- CNN
- History
- HGTV
- Discovery
- Fox News
- TNT
- Food
- National Geographic

And here are some of the favorite shows in our office:

I know you’re busy. But hopefully one of the shows on this list gets the conversation started. Happy viewing!
