Tonight, Jan. 11, we will be taking down phone and Internet service during our early morning maintenance window to make improvements to our network. This work will only affect a portion of our customers, and is a continuation of the work we started a couple of weeks ago that will double broadband network capacity for the second time in a year.
Planned maintenance will happen between midnight and 6 a.m. tonight. If you have cable modem service in Bend or Redmond, your phone and/or Internet service may be unavailable for a portion of this period. Most customers will experience only one outage, and actual outage time will vary between 30 minutes and a few hours. If your business typically use the phone or Internet during these hours, please be aware that your service will be impacted and plan accordingly.
Our crews doubled network capacity last May, but explosive growth in online video streaming is driving the need to do it again. Once this project is complete, new capacity will be added for all customers in Bend, Redmond and Sisters.
Adding capacity at this pace is a major undertaking and an upgrade of this scale took months to plan and prepare. We also took a little extra time to structure this upgrade so we can add capacity more quickly in the future as needs arise. We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience over the past few months as we readied this significant capacity increase.
