Latest news on the Viacom negotiations

In an effort to keep you up to date and informed, we will continue post to our blog.

Here’s the latest:

Negotiations continue with Viacom, the parent company of MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Comedy Central, TV Land and other networks.

If we do not reach an agreement by this evening, Viacom will require BendBroadband to remove all of its channels as of 9 p.m. tonight, March 31st.

Over the past few months, the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) has been negotiating on behalf of BendBroadband and other independent cable companies to work out a fair contract after Viacom demanded a significant rate increase; approaching 40 times the rate of inflation.

Together with the NCTC, we are continuing to try and negotiate a fair price to keep these networks  while keeping your price for cable TV as low as possible. As a local, family-owned company, BendBroadband strives to provide the best programming and service to its customers. We work hard to negotiate fair prices with our programmers.

We will continue to update you about the negotiations with Viacom and will notify you when we have arrived at a resolution. Please check back for updates, as this is an evolving situation.
