Showtime is kicking off the summer season on July 13 with the return of “Masters of Sex” and “Ray Donovan.”
Masters of Sex, the highly acclaimed Showtime series, returns for a groundbreaking second season. The series is based on Thomas Maier’s biography, “Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the Couple Who Taught America How to Love.” It follows the story of Masters and Johnson, who pioneered the study of human sexuality at Washington University in St. Louis from 1957 until the 1990s.
Cast aside by the medical community following the exposure of their controversial study, Dr. William Masters and Virginia Johnson passionately fight to get their work back on track. But as they struggle to unlock the mysteries of sex, things get dangerously personal.
Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan star in “Masters of Sex,” based on the provocative true story of Masters and Johnson. The second season premieres July 13 at 10 p.m.
One of Showtime’s most successful first-season shows, “Ray Donovan,” returns for a second season starting July 13 at 9 p.m. The show follows Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber), a “fixer” with the law firm of Goldman & Drexler. The show is set in Los Angeles, the sprawling mecca of the rich and famous.
Donovan does the dirty work for LA’s top power players. He is the go-to guy who makes the problems of the city’s celebrities, superstar athletes and business moguls disappear.
A powerful drama unfolds when his father, played by Oscar-winner Jon Voight, is unexpectedly released from prison, setting off a chain of events that shakes the Donovan family to its core.
The show was honored with the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Most Exciting New Series in June 2013.
