Alpha moves forward with Advanced Remote and stronger Wi-Fi signal

Thousands of BendBroadband video and Internet customers have switched to Alpha, our state-of-the-art, whole-home entertainment system. And the good news is, it just keeps getting better.

More control with the Alpha Advanced Remote

Last year, we launched a new advanced remote control for Alpha, which is currently on sale for $14.99. Each Alpha Player comes with a standard remote, but upgrade is worth making if you like to have the latest thing.

Several features set the Advanced Remote apart:

1. Radio frequency gives you control behind TV or closed cabinet doors

The Advanced Remote supports radio-frequency connection to your Alpha Media Player. This is great for people who like their equipment to be out of sight. The remote does not need direct line of sight to the Media Player. You can hide your player in a cupboard or behind a wall-mounted TV.

2. QWERTY keyboard makes searching easier than ever

Another cool feature is a full alphanumeric keyboard on the flip side of the remote. Turning over the remote activates the QWERTY keyboard and deactivates the standard keypad; this clever feature prevents you from accidentally pressing keys on the underside of the remote. This full keypad is super useful when you’re searching; you don’t have to scroll through the alphanumeric matrix on the TV screen to find your favorite programs.

3. One remote controls all

In addition to controlling your Alpha Media Player, your Advanced Remote can be used to control your TV. It’s easy to set the Alpha Advanced Remote to turn your TV on and off or change the device input and volume. No more multiple remotes.

Alpha Wi-Fi Bridge to launch in March

BendBroadband will introduce the Alpha Wi-Fi Bridge, a new box that will extend the range of the Wi-Fi signal in your home. The bridge will cover Wi-Fi dead spots in your home – areas where your Wi-Fi connections are not as strong as you would like.

The device connects to a cable outlet in your home and talks to the Alpha Gateway through the cable wiring. For techies, the Wi-Fi Bridge operates on two frequencies, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz; once installed, it creates two additional Wi-Fi access points in your home.
