On April 12, Al Jazeera America on channel 52 will go off the air.
Launched in August 2013, the cable news network struggled to find advertisers before its parent company, Qatar-based Al Jazeera, made the decision earlier this year to shut the network down.
Tony Karon, a senior executive producer for Al Jazeera America’s website, wrote a moving column at the end of February highlighting the network’s accomplishments and standards during its brief tenure.
For similar content, we suggest CNBC (channels 54 SD/654 HD), CNN (55/655), Fox News (57/657) and MSNBC (59/659). Also, all of Al Jazeera’s world news can still be accessed at its English-language website, AlJazeera.com.
In the meantime, we’ll continue to monitor the television landscape and keep an eye out for a potential channel replacement for customers with our Preferred television package.
