“Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.”
The Walking Dead left us hanging last spring. Big time.
If you’re like me, you’ve spent the last six months waffling between anticipation and dread of season seven’s October 23 premiere on AMC. I’m dying to know who’s on the receiving end of Lucille, Negan’s brutal weapon of choice.
Sorry. Poor choice of words.
But I also really, really don’t want to find out. Or watch it happen. Or witness the aftermath. Or find Negan unfortunately charming (I blame Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The dread factor is large. I mean, what if it’s Daryl? We cannot justifiably go on in a Walking Dead world without Daryl Dixon. The internet has spoken.
But I digress.
In case you don’t recall (in painstaking detail that’s kept you awake at night), we were left in April with Negan giving a gruesome and fatal blow to the head of one of Walking Dead’s cast of characters.
We weren’t shown who. Instead, we were given the point-of-view shot of the unlucky victim, while lulled into a panic state by the sickening thwacks of the barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat and surrounding screams.
See? I’m having nightmares already.
Of course there has been wild speculation, some pretty good predictions, and a running list of possible outcomes because what is the internet good for if not for arguments and dissecting TV episodes frame by frame?
And don’t pretend you don’t have a wish list of potential victims. We all do and we’re all terrible for it (full disclosure: Aaron tops my list).
Well, sit tight because the premiere is on the way this Sunday night on AMC (SD channel 102 and HD channel 702).
Who might we say goodbye to? Rick, Maggie, Abe, Michonne, Daryl, Sasha, Aaron, Carol, Eugene, Rosita or Glenn.
(Please not Daryl, please not Daryl).
