The first of several network upgrades was completed in the BendBroadband service area on March 21. The scheduled upgrade in the communities of Bend, Redmond and Terrebonne improved capacity of the network for 13,000 BendBroadband customers.
These upgrades took place during the standard maintenance window of midnight to 6 a.m. Everything is done to make sure the upgrade is completed prior to 6 a.m.
This first upgrade affected about 7,000 customers in Redmond, 5,500 customers in Bend, and 400 customers in Terrebonne. Customers who provided BendBroadband with e-mail addresses were notified of the network upgrade via e-mail. Notices are also posted on the company’s website and social media accounts.
Customers will not internet or telephone service during these upgrade maintenance times. BendBroadband recommends customers have a cell phone on hand for 911 calls.
“These upgrades will greatly improve broadband capacity and allow for faster online experiences” said Wade Holmes, director of Engineering and Technology at BendBroadband. “Customers in these areas who were experiencing periodic slowness will immediately notice significant improvements in their internet speeds.”
Following the upgrade, some BendBroadband customers may need to reset of their modem by powering it off, then on.
The next upgrade in the BendBroadband service area of Bend, Redmond, Terrebonne and Sun River will occur later this year. Additional upgrades are planned during 2018.
BendBroadband would like to thank customers for their cooperation as they work to provide an improved online experience to area residents.
