BendBroadband is thrilled to welcome the team of Crestview Communications. Located in Oregon, Crestview has offices in Madras, La Pine, and Prineville. To introduce you to our new area of the state BendBroadband is serving, here are some of the attractions near these beautiful areas.
Erickson Aircraft Collection
This World War II hangar houses a collection of 20 rare aircraft, many of which are still in flying condition. The museum takes you back in time and lets you get up close to vintage warbirds. Here’s a tour of the museum that Zolo Media produced.
Lake Billy Chinook
Whether you choose to enjoy it on land or by boat, Lake Billy Chinook offers breathtaking views from all angles. It resulted from the Round Butte Dam and lies in a canyon where the Crooked, Deschutes, and Metolius Rivers meet. Here people enjoy water sports and fishing, and it is one of the few places in the U.S. where bull trout can be legally fished. The Cove Palisades State Park is situated among towering cliffs that surround beautiful Lake Billy Chinook.
Richardson’s Rock Ranch
A family-owned cattle ranch, Richardson’s Rock Ranch offers rock digging for thundereggs, moss agate, jasper, jasp-agate, Oregon sunset, and more. They provide you all of the necessary tools and a short lesson and then send you out to do your own rock hounding. It’s great fun, and thundereggs make for awesome and unique souvenirs.
La Pine State Park
Home to “Big Red,” Oregon’s largest ponderosa pine, La Pine State Park is a sanctuary of amazing wilderness and great camping no matter the season. The park lies next to the Deschutes River, making it an excellent spot for trout or fly fishing.
Pictures alone are enough to make you want to book your ticket to Prineville and the Painted Hills. A rolling display of Earth’s natural history, the Painted Hills appear to change with each visit due to light exposure and the amount of moisture in the air.
Prineville Reservoir State Park
This is the place for year-round camping and fishing. It borders Prineville Reservoir Wildlife Area, where a variety of animals such as bald eagles, golden eagles, mule deer, and osprey reside.
Wildland Firefighters Monument in Prineville
This monument located in Ochoco Creek Park in Prineville honors all wildland firefighters and those who support them. It was created by The Wildland Firefighter Foundation after 14 firefighters lost their lives to the 1994 South Canyon Fire in Colorado. Nine of the fatalities were from the Prineville Hot Shots. Now, the monument is located on a one-acre natural landscape with sculptures, a waterfall, and granite inscriptions throughout.
The Crestview offices are located in areas with amazing natural beauty and plenty of unique things to do and see. If you’re ever in the area, make sure to check them out!
