Train Your Brain program kicks off in Central Oregon

Nearly 2,000 elementary students in Central Oregon will be sporting some new helmets designed to keep them safe. BendBroadband is one of several organizations that are part of The Center Foundation’s partnership program called Train Your Brain.  The goal of the two month-long initiative is to educate every third grader in the region about brain injury prevention and the importance of helmet safety.

Starting April 16, athletic trainers and representatives from The Center Foundation will present bike safety demonstrations, and will provide bike helmet fitting demonstrations. At least 1,200 students who are in need of a helmet will receive a free one.  

The students are in the school districts of Bend-La Pine, Sisters, Crook County, Culver, and Jefferson. BendBroadband staff members helped distribute the helmets and said it “was pretty sweet to watch 20 kids who didn’t have helmets walk out with helmets.”
