The First Story Charity Golf Tournament & Opening Night Bash is one of the region’s most popular charity events. This year, the event smashed its previous record to raise funds for First Story, which provides zero-down, no-interest home loans for deserving and capable families in need of housing.

First Story’s Wild West themed charity event raised over $275,000, beating its previous best of $230,000. The two-day event raises funds for the non-profit’s affordable housing efforts in Oregon, including Central Oregon, as well as Washington and Idaho. This year’s event saw an increase in participants attending the golf tournament and opening night bash at the renowned Tetherow Golf Club. The event is sponsored in part by BendBroadband.

First Story’s founder, Hayden Watson, was humbled by the record achievement. “I am in absolute awe of the enthusiasm, kindness and passion of our donors. This was undoubtedly the best First Story event and brought inspiration on a grand scale to all involved. Thank you to everyone who gave and continues to give,” he said.

Next year’s event is scheduled for Aug.1-2, 2019.
