Singers and storytellers inspire students with Tower Theatre’s LessonPLAN

Here in Central Oregon, more than 20,000 students have connected to the performing arts thanks to Tower Theatre’s award-winning education and outreach program known as LessonPLAN.

LessonPLAN (Performing Live Arts Now) Education Series brings students to the Tower Theatre and performers into schools. The four LessonPlan performances in October and November are already sold out.

Red Grammer kicks off the 2019-20 year with his Circle of Light show. The show includes songs that children can sing along to and a lesson on the importance of sharing an encouraging word to others.

The students at Jewell Elementary School will experience History Alive as Actor Patrick Garner arrives at the school as Thomas Edison. Garner delivers an informal and fun-filled lecture about Edison’s life, his inventions, and what those inventions taught him.

In early November, Three Rivers School will hear a live storytelling performance based on the real events of a young woman who braves the journey to the Yukon in 1897 in search of gold and opportunity.

BendBroadband is a supporting sponsor of the 2019-20 Education Outreach for the Tower Theatre and thanks to BendBroadband sponsorship, grants, and donors, participating schools are offered these performances at a minimal charge.

The Tower Theatre is a hub for culture, connections and artistic experiences. More importantly, the next generation of theater-goers enjoy LessonPLAN programs that engage their minds and hearts.

Information about the LessonPLAN season is mailed to all Central Oregon schools in the Fall and throughout the school year. Requests from schools are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis as seats are available. For more information please contact The Tower Theatre Foundation’s Education Manager Dani Wyeth at daniw@towertheatre.org.
