It’s back! From Feb. 14-16, the Oregon WinterFest will be returning for the 21st consecutive year in Bend’s Old Mill District. Join Bendbroadband, a sponsor of the event, for three days of live music, activities for the entire family, and delicious food and drink from around the region.
Throughout the first two days of President’s Day weekend, the festival will host a wide range of talented bands and musicians. Starting off the performances at 5:30 pm is Blackstrap Bluegrass, a group based in the high desert of Central Oregon that keep people dancing everywhere from throwdowns to hoedowns. Following Blackstrap at 7 p.m. is Bend’s own dance/rock band Precious Byrd, a local favorite that was a true standout at last year’s event. The final performer on Friday, beginning at 8:30 p.m., is none other than the rising Canadian country sensation Lindsay Ell. The 30-year-old musician, vocalist, and songwriter already has an impressive resume—including being named one of the Huffington Post’s “Top Country Artists to Watch” and landing Billboard’s ‘Best Country Album of 2017.’
The unique performances continue on Saturday Feb. 15, at 5:30 p.m. with the alternative band Brandon Prinzing & the Old Revival. Following them is renowned reggae performer Jemere Morgan, who represents the genre to the fullest through his mesmerizing performances. The final group performing at Winterfest is Naughty by Nature, the famous, hit-making hip-hop trio that has earned Grammy and American Music Awards throughout their amazing 20-year career.
Winterfest will also feature several events capable of entertaining the whole family. Be prepared to be amazed through the Light, Ice, & Fire Exposition (L.I.F.E). L.I.F.E will display beautiful, creative works from artists throughout the region—and world. Some of the amazing spectacles include the Fire Pit & Sculpture Competition, an incredible display of ice sculptures, and Central Oregon Light Art—where regional artists light up the banks of the Deschutes River with beautiful light decorations.
Winterfest will also host the world’s largest meet and great pet area. J.D. Platt’s K9 Kings allow attendees to see talented, high-flying dogs perform tricks and comedy routines capable of captivating viewers of all ages.
Bendbroadband is thrilled to sponsor the Oregon Winterfest for reasons beyond entertainment. Since 2008, the event has awarded $120,000 to local charities. This year, the event donated over $13,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon, where mentors help foster educational success among youth.
