Best old holiday movies to watch this season

Due to the pandemic, we’ll all be spending plenty of times indoor this winter. Don’t curb the holiday movie watching just because you ran out of 21st Century flicks! Here are the best, older movies to keep you company on those chilly winter evenings:

The Santa Clause

Tim Allen’s best movie performance! He plays a busy marketing executive at a toy company who must take on the role of Santa after Mr. Clause takes a tumble off of his roof. Don’t sleep on this one as it’s much, much better than the more current sequels in the series.

Jingle All the Way

Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a hardworking father, trying to get his sons favorite new toy in time for Christmas. Sinbad plays the villain, also trying to secure the coveted new Turboman doll. Chaos ensues and plot only gets more ridiculous as the movie progresses. What more could you want?

Home Alone 1 & 2

They’re both good! Kevin McCallister gets left behind over the holidays and must avoid “The Sticky Bandits.” If you’re looking for a classic to watch with the kids, this is the winner!

White Christmas

My personal favorite on the list–this one just holds an infinite amount of nostalgia.  Danny Kay, Bing Crosby, and Rosemary Clooney (George Clooney’s Aunt), complete the all-star cast that make up this delightful musical that gave us the popular song the movie’s named for.

Scrooged

While the visuals are genuinely terrifying (shoutout Ghost of Christmas Past), it’s fun to see Bill Murray play a different character. This one might be for just adults who want a solid, 80s Christmas flick!

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

The third Chevy Chase “Vacation” movie might be my favorite. It’s peak Chevy Chase as his unrelenting sarcasm and fumbling clumsiness provides a solid hour and a half of laughs!
